Global Rankings
Data and methodology
This independent website presents 120 indicators from public sources. Each ranking identifies its provider, unit, year and definition. Ranks are not an overall assessment of a country.
Public data sources
Sources include the World Bank, Our World in Data, FAOSTAT, WHO, ITU and IRENA, as well as the specialist providers linked below. Some datasets are redistributed by another institution. Original metadata retains the provider’s original language.
Comparable years and coverage
For annual statistics, the default is the newest year covering at least 70% of the maximum available country coverage, and at least 20 economies where possible. A ranking uses one year or report edition; missing observations are not replaced with another year. Newer years with lower coverage can be selected.
Statistical year and report edition
Publication dates can differ from observation dates. Happiness uses average life evaluations for 2023–2025 in the 2026 report, labelled 2025. HDI uses 2023 observations in the 2025 report. Innovation and peace indices labelled 2026 refer to report editions; underlying indicators may have different years. AI adoption is a June 2026 estimate, not a full-year statistic.
Calculating global ranks
Intentional homicide rates and peace scores rank from lowest to highest; other indicators rank from highest to lowest. Ranks use original values and competition ranking for ties, for example 1, 2, 2, 4. Filtering or changing display order does not recalculate global ranks. Higher values are not necessarily better.
Display precision and derived indicators
Large totals may be rounded to whole units; ratios and per-capita values normally show up to two decimal places, and selected indices show three. Display rounding does not change source values, ranks or CSV data. Derived indicators require matched country-year inputs. GDP per capita is not personal salary. ARWU counts represent listed universities, not all universities or a direct teaching-quality score.
Country coverage and missing observations
The country list follows the saved World Bank non-aggregate economy list, excluding world, regional and income-group totals. Coverage varies by source and year. Missing observations are excluded, never zero-filled. The current list and mappings do not include Taiwan; this does not imply that Taiwan has no public statistics. Additional sources require comparable definitions, years and units.
